Malabar Hill is one of the 288 Assembly constituencies in Maharashtra. It is located in the Mumbai district. The seat is unreserved. The constituency will go to the polls in the 2024 Vidhan Sabha elections.

Election Overview

Maharashtra will hold its Assembly elections in a single phase for all 288 constituencies. The election for Malabar Hill will take place on November 20, 2024. The vote counting will happen on November 23, 2024, along with Jharkhand and bypolls across 15 other states.

Malabar Hill has 2,519,586 registered voters. This includes:

2019 Election Recap

In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won the majority and formed the government.

After the election, the Shiv Sena, led by Uddhav Thackeray, left the NDA. The Shiv Sena then joined the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Indian National Congress (INC)** to form a new coalition, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), with Uddhav Thackeray as Chief Minister.

In 2022, Eknath Shinde and 40 MLAs rebelled against Uddhav Thackeray. They joined the BJP, leading to the collapse of the MVA government. The Maha Yuti was formed with the BJP and the Shinde-led Shiv Sena. Eknath Shinde became the Chief Minister.

Later, in 2023, Ajit Pawar broke away from the NCP. He joined the BJP, leading to further division in the political landscape.

2019 Malabar Hill Election Results

In the 2019 elections, Mangal Prabhat Lodha, from the BJP, won the Malabar Hill seat. He won by a margin of 71,872 votes.

Voter Turnout in 2019

The voter turnout in Malabar Hill in the 2019 Maharashtra elections was 45.2%. A total of 117,897 votes were cast out of 260,661 registered voters.

The 2024 elections are expected to be competitive, given the political changes in Maharashtra since the last election.
